1. Orient the specimen. Is the view anterior or posterior? Which edge of the screen is superior? Inferior? Right lateral? Left lateral?
2. Identify the structures in the “What’s inside?” list.
3. Is the inferior vena cava to the right or left of the aorta?
4. How severe is the aortic atherosclerosis? Where is it the plaque mostly located?
5. Jump to interactive video. Draw in where the kidneys should be. Add the renal arteries, renal veins, ureters and adrenals. Make sure your renal arteries connect to the renal artery ostia visible in the aorta.
6. What is Gerota’s fascia?
7. Do you see any pathology?
8. What do you think of the size of the spleen? If there is a change in size, why might that be and what might that tell you?
9. Does this patient have an inferior vena cava filter?
10. Do you think there are contents inside the stomach? What could cause the stomach to appear full or distended at autopsy?
