Discussion Questions

Scroll down for more questions.

1. Identify the main anterior and posterior stuctures of the heart.

2. Identify each valve and its parts (leaflets, cusps, commissures, etc.).

3. Using the ruler in the image, estimate the circumference of the each valve? Are they normal?

4. Which side of the heart normally has larger valve measurements compared to the other, right or left?

5. Does any valve show pathology? Which? If so, what pathology? What is its significance?

6. Assess the internal lining of the aorta. Is there plaque? How much? Is it early or more advanced? Patchy or diffuse? Ulcerated or not?

7. Is the amount of plaque “normal” for age? Or do you think the patient had hypercholesterolemia?
